About Us

Brisbane International School (B.I.S) was inaugurated on the 10th September 1998. At the inception BIS comprised of just three students and two teachers. Within weeks the numbers doubled and tripled and at present we have more than 300 students and a panel of dedicated and qualified staff members at BIS, providing a sound education and supporting the dreams and aspirations of young students.

Over the past 13 years more than 1000 students have passed through the portals of education at BIS. Whilst some of these students completed only their preliminary education at BIS, most have continued to pursue studies in the primary and secondary levels.

The school now comprises of the Montessori section and classes from Grade 1 to GCE A/Levels.

The management of Brisbane International School consists of the principal Mrs. M.D.P.S. Jeewandara, and the share partners Col. M.Jeewandara, Col.W.J.Fernando, Ms.S.Galappaththi (Canberra, Australia), and Ms. T.M. Jeewandara(Sydney, Australia).
Brisbane International School is also a member of the New South Wales Montessori Association of Australia.

With an underlying motto of “Knowledge is power” ,supportive members of the management, dedicated staff, enthusiastic parents and multi talented students, BIS has reached many of it’s goals during the past thirteen years and has set some more for the near future and beyond.
